Funemployed: Self-awareness & Inspiration (Week #8)

This past weekend, we went to one of my closest friend’s wedding. We had a blast at her wedding, it was a typical Indian wedding, with multiple days of celebrations, lots of colours, food, dancing and music.

What surprised me was that it made me miss planning my wedding, putting together a vision and an experience for the guests. I thought that was a part of my life I wouldn’t miss, because it was stressful! But it really was a treat for my Type A personality, and my urge to be creative!

Funemployed: Take a pause, reflect (Week #6-7)

So last week I decided to take a break from these weekly updates. That is the beauty of fun-employment right? I can decide to write or not write. But really, I just felt like I needed to just take a step back and focus in on what I was trying to achieve in this glorious time off. It’s this bizarre feeling of being able to do everything but nothing at the same time. (more…)

Funemployed: Everyday’s the Weekend (Week #5)

Fall is officially in full swing! It’s so freakin’ cold these days and I’ve been unwilling to scrummage through the storage locker for my winter coat! I might just have to bite the bullet and do it one of these days!

Funemployed: Week #3

Hello and welcome to my week No. 3 Update – Happy October!

It’s finally feeling like fall, and a perfect excuse to wear my scarf collection! But weather aside, fall is a great segue into feeling like the end of the year is here. There’s about 90-something days left in the year! Can you believe it?

Funemployed: And loving it (#2)

It’s been two weeks since I’ve been free of my adult responsibilities. Surprisingly, I’ve not yet hit panic mode. I’ve been actually enjoying it. Part of me is scared that I will get used to this and be okay with being unemployed forever. It is quite easy to fill my time.

This post is later than I would like, but last week was unique as I closed out the week  in Scottsimg_2415dale, Arizona, for a friend’s bachelorette party. Admittedly, I basically used this as an excuse to do nothing productive and just relax before an extended weekend of  partying.

Funemployed: A new adventure (It’s time for a side-step)

img_8026Four weeks ago, I made what is the biggest, bravest decision of my life. Yes, this decision was even bigger than getting married.

I walked into my manager’s office, and told her that I had made the decision to leave my current role without any plan of comes next for me. It was not for another role, it wasn’t to go back to school; it was that I’d rather be doing nothing than than be in this job. It was one of the most liberating moments of my life. It was as if, after weeks, I had finally been able to take a breath. I don’t think I’ve spoken with this much conviction ever! So much, that each person I spoke to about my decision knew that there wasn’t a way to change my mind. I was determined to make a change, and this was step one!
